Dr. Layla Al-Samman, Chairwoman of the Syrian-Lebanese Business Council, participated in the Syrian-American Economic Forum, which brought together representatives of the private sector from both countries. She moderated and engaged in a series of panel and sectoral sessions dedicated to exploring prospects for trade and investment cooperation.
Dr. Layla moderated the first session, which focused on presenting success stories of American investors in Syria, the investment sectors they targeted, and the challenges they encountered, alongside delivering key insights and advice for incoming investors to the Syrian market.
She also moderated the second session, which brought together the Chairman of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, the Chairman of the Syrian-American Business Council, the Chairman of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry, and several heads of specialized committees within the Federation of Chambers of Commerce. The session addressed mechanisms for direct communication between the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and business councils, as well as ways to build upon the outcomes of these meetings.
In the third session (the sectoral sessions), Dr. Layla delivered a presentation covering financial and investment frameworks and payment systems. The session also examined existing challenges and ways to transition from exchanging ideas to establishing practical projects and partnerships, while enhancing the presence of Syrian companies within global supply chains and international markets.
The forum took place as part of a visit by a delegation comprising representatives from leading American companies, alongside representatives of the Syrian private sector, chambers of commerce and industry, and business councils. The event featured bilateral business meetings (B2B) and sectoral workshops aimed at exploring direct cooperation opportunities.
